El Presidente: The General Emilio Aguinaldo Story

The story told about the life of Emilio Aguinaldo  as  the very first president of the Philippines and conquest of the colonists from the Philippines. The deliverance of the Philippines from the hands of its colonists and the establishment of our first republic.

                Before I watched the movie I already have some knowledge about Philippine history back when I was in high school. But when I watched the movie I still learned new things that not discussed when I was in high school. First, is when the old women told prophecy about the life of Aguinaldo and his struggle when he grow. I don’t know if that prophecy about Aguinaldo really happened or just an additional spice  to the film just to make it more entertaining. Second, I learned that Bonifacio didn’t went to school but he is reading books to educate himself. This is also the reason why Bonifacio is not elected in any position in the election of government officials held in Tejeros. Lastly, when Bonifacio is accused of sedition and treason against Aguinaldo’s government and then later been executed secretly.

                 After I’ve done watching the film,  I realized that the freedom we have right now is because of the people who stand out bravely and fight hard just to achieve the freedom we are experiencing today. This history of ours is worth reminiscing and be pass to the next generation so they know and to be grateful that we filipino have great leaders in the past.
